September officially marks the beginning of fall. With the new season comes fall festivals, events, and entertainment. If you’re looking to enjoy the crisp, fall weather, there are plenty of San Antonio Fall Festivals to enjoy! Check out the following events for September and October in San Antonio:

September Festivals and Events

Bud Light, The Taste

When: September 13-15
Where: Houston Street and The River Walk
What: Looking for a new favorite restaurant? Try 20 different restaurants in three days with this event. Local restaurants will serve their signature dish in an appetizer-size portion along with Bud Light or mixed drinks. Vote for your favorite at the end of the day and then check online to see if your favorite won! This event costs $30 for one day or $75 for all three.

Diez y Seis

When: September 16-17
Where: Plaza Guadalupe and other locations
What: ¡Viva México! September is Hispanic Heritage Month and San Antonio is celebrating Mexico’s independence from Spain and its hispanic culture and history with its annual Diez y Seis festival. There are many celebrations for the holiday throughout San Antonio, but one of the biggest is the parade that starts in the historic Westside and ends in the Plaza Guadalupe. There also will be Spanish flamenco and Mexican folklórico dancing and music.


When: September 16-17
Where: Pickrell Park
What: This festival celebrates the city of Schertz with live music, a carnival, and a barbecue cookoff. There are activities for the kids, local arts and crafts booths, and a lot of delicious carnival food.

Bulverde Jubilee

When: September 17
Where: Old Village of Bulverde
What: This patriotic festival, otherwise known as the “Freedom Festival,” celebrates the Texas village. The main event is a parade at 11:00 a.m. and there also is food, arts and crafts, and live music.

Jazz’s Alive

When: September 17-18
Where: Travis Park
What: For over 30 years, San Antonio has been hosting award-winning local, regional, and national jazz musicians for this special event. There will be live music on two stages featuring different types of jazz as well as food, art, and a kid’s symposium that will expose them to different types of music. If you stay after dark, you can experience some of the greatest jazz musicians improvising and playing together on the Starlight Terrace at the St. Anthony Hotel.

Comal County Fair and Rodeo

Yeehaw! This fall festival is packed full of activities, food, and entertainment. Between the parade, barbecue cookoff, chili fest, rodeo, live entertainment, and exhibits, there’s something for everyone. Bring the whole family and enjoy this Texas-sized event.

October Festivals and Events

The Pumpkin Patch

When: Every weekend in October
Where: The Pumpkin Patch
What: Can’t wait for jack-o’-lanterns and pumpkin spice lattes? Well, you can get your fill of pumpkins every weekend this fall. Pick out your favorite pumpkin, big or small, and enjoy the crisp weather, local food, and lots of family fun.

River Walk Fall Arts and Crafts Show

When: October 7-9
Where: San Antonio River Walk
What: This is another great fall event along the River Walk. This October weekend you can find art, jewelry, pottery, and other handmade goods from local artists. It’s the best way to spice up your home and wardrobe!

San Antonio Beer Festival

When: October 15
Where: Maverick Park
What: This event is the biggest beer festival in San Antonio. It will feature over 400 premium and craft beers and 150 breweries for you to enjoy (if you’re over 21, of course). Besides these hoppy delights, there will be beer-themed games and activities, live music, food trucks, and a wine garden (in case you have that one friend that doesn’t like beer).

Taste of the Hills Gala

When: TBA
Where: Boulder Springs Event Center
What: San Antonio also will host a wine event this October. Local wineries and restaurants show off their skills at this event (yes, there is beer on tap, too). In addition, there is live music, a live and silent auction, art, and entertainment. Bon appetite!

San Antonio Horrific Film Fest

When: October 21-23
Where: Courtyard San Antonio SeaWorld/Westover Hills
What: The end of October is all about horror, costumes, and Halloween. We’ll kick it off with this film festival that gives filmmakers a chance to show their best work in horror, suspense, aliens, monsters, and heroes. If you want to get spooked out before the big holiday, this event is for you.

San Antonio Día de los Muertos

When: October 29-30
Where: Arneson River Theatre
What: Coming in at the end of the month is the Day of the Dead. This Mexican holiday brings family, friends, and loved ones together to celebrate and remember their loved ones who have passed. At this event, you will see a procession with lively characters and traditional costumes as well as sugar skulls, altars, musicians and dancers, puppets, and poetry. This is a huge event that ends the month with color, family, and tradition.
